Kafue National Park

Covering an area the size of Wales, Kafue is Zambia’s oldest and largest game reserve. This is also the most secluded and untouched park in Zambia and has the greatest diversity of wildlife. Vegetation in the park ranges from the lush wetlands of the Busanga Plains to ‘Miombo’ woodland and large grassy dambos. The grasslands of Kafue are grazed by red lechwe in the thousands and many other antelope are also found here including wildebeest, Lichtenstein’s hartebeest, buffalo, zebra, reedbuck, oribi, puku and impala. The wealth of game on the plains attracts plenty of predators and prides of up to twenty lions are regularly seen. The Kafue is also regarded as one of the best places in Africa to encounter leopards and is the only park in Zambia where you will find cheetah.
